Statement
The Endangered Species Problem
|
What does it take to make
this organization effective?
With
these tools in place, all that remains is to identify projects to undertake,
and to secure the funding necessary to complete the work. In our opinion,
too many conservation organizations become dependent on highly fluctuating,
large-scale grass roots memberships to fund their cause. Such campaigns
for securing funding often become ends in themselves, with frequent mass
mailings and fundraising drives that consume an inordinate percentage of
the contributions themselves. While the ESRC seeks to develop a core of
public support for our programs, our goal is to show contributors solid
results as a direct product of their contributions. The ESRC wants its
supporters to share in the successes they help achieve. The ESRC believes
that contributions are better spent working to save endangered species
than in preparing and mass-mailing glossy newsletters. Web page updates
should suffice to keep all interested parties, donors, contributors and
supporters fully apprised of the status of ESRC activities. If more information
is desired, it will be gladly provided upon request.
What can the average person do to help save endangered
species?
In
an age of increasing environmental awareness and concern, many people have
made lifestyle changes that incrementally and collectively reduce pressure
on the limited resources of the planet. Recycling, reduced consumption
of consumer goods, use of higher mileage vehicles, and a wide variety of
other personal actions are important ways for the general public to make
a difference. With species on the edge, however, the situation is often
so precarious or remote that only intense efforts applied by experienced
practitioners hold the hopes of saving and recovering life forms that may
otherwise be lost forever. Except in certain situations, there is often
little that can be accomplished by even dedicated lay individuals to make
significant progress toward saving the most endangered species.
We
believe that financially supporting the ESRC is currently the best means
for concerned individuals, corporations, agencies, and organizations to
cut through red tape and quickly initiate action to prevent extinctions
where they can be prevented. To this end we ask your support for this cause.
In terms of effectiveness, we promise to strive to deliver the highest
possible Return On Investment.....
.......Tangible Results. |
